Introduction

 About me: 

My name is Andrea Jaimes and I am a Junior at Texas State University. In my free time I like to go hiking, to the beach, and eat ice cream when it's warm outside and when it's cold I like to stay home and relax with my dog Luna. I would like to teach anywhere from Pre-k through 2nd grade. I currently work with kids that age and I absolutely love it!

Why teach?

There are many teachers in my family, so I am familiar with the job. When I was younger, I was so sure that I wouldn't be a teacher like my mom, aunts, and grandma. One day in high school I volunteered at an elementary school to tutor some kids and I fell in love with the feeling you get the moment when you see  your students understand what you have been trying to teach them. I specifically want to work with students who are learning English. As an English learner I understand how hard and confusing it can be especially if the only place you hear English is at school. I want to teach Pre-k most of all because they are still small, and I like to see their growth like them coming at the beginning of the year not knowing how to hold a pencil to leaving knowing how to write their name. I believe that teaching is a passion for helping children because I assure you, we don't do it for the money.😄
